ABOUT

French, Spanish and Italian to UK English translator. Specialising in Sport, Tourism and Food & Drink.

I completed my MA in Translation Studies at the University of Sheffield in 2021, having previously undertaken a BA in Modern Languages between 2016 and 2020. As a passionate and lifelong linguist, I combine my interests, experience and education to produce creative and compelling translations which focus on the message of the text. This ensures that the final product has the appropriate effect on your intended audience, and that nothing is lost in translation.

Specialisms

Food & Drink

My MA course included a year abroad where I split my time studying at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne and the University of Valencia. The experience led to a transformation from a mere outsider and tourist to someone who lives, breathes and understands each and every aspect of these cultures.

My burning passion for food and local cuisine, combined with vast experience in various hospitality settings, have equipped me with expert knowledge in the food and drink sector, most notably in the wine and speciality coffee industries.

Tourism

Travelling and living abroad has not only served to sharpen my language and translation skills, but it has also enriched my cultural awareness and understanding of these different countries and cultures - a vital aspect of communicating successfully through translation. As someone fascinated by both food and tourism marketing translation, I combined the two for my MA dissertation which gave me tremendous insight into how to translate these types of texts to maximise the impact on the reader.

Sport

Sport has played a huge role throughout my life. I competed in football, rugby union and athletics at relatively high levels of competition throughout my youth and sport still continues to dominate my weekends - though nowadays more from the comfort of my sofa. As such, I am familiar with any technical terminology and sport-specific jargon and therefore well placed to tackle any issues in sport translation. As well as the above, I am keenly interested in basketball, tennis and golf.

So whether it's a website, brochure, or any other kind of text, I can help you better connect with your target audience through well-written and engaging translations.
